In order to define the fast food market, all of these factors must be considered. Due to competition, price wars, and barriers to entry in the fast food market, market structure becomes slightly muddled and†¦show more content†¦A third factor that actually classifies the structure of the fast food market as monopolistic competition and not oligopolistic is the fact that though the fast food industry implements non-price competition through coupons, promotions and advertisements, the industry also experiences price wars. There is no tendency to keep prices fixed within the fast food industry. Oppositely, there are constant price wars between fast food competitors (AmosWEB). In 2008, Taco Bell began offering products at prices ranging between $0.79-0.99 in order to undercut the dollar menus at McDonald’s and Burger King. Wendy’s has taken on a similar strategy, offering a double hamburger for one dollar. Many companies are following this trend in congruence with their competitors and this is creating a possibly detrimental price war (Motley Fool). These price wars have led to losses for many fast food companies trying to keep up with their leading competitors’ dangerously low pricing. The giants of the industry can afford to set their prices extremely low; however, companies such as CKE Restaurants Inc. are experiencing large losses in 2010 due to their inability to price as low as front-runners, including McDonald’s and Burger King. Due to the damaging price wars, â€Å"CKE Restaurants Inc. (CKR) recently reported a loss of 6 cents per share for the first quarter of fiscal 2011†(Seeking Alpha). Prices remain fairly rigid within an oligopolisticShow MoreRelatedJollibee Case Study Transnational Management Individual Assignment1019 Words  | 5 PagesFirst started as an ice cream parlor in 1975, today Jollibee has become the number one fast food chain that serves burgers, sandwiches and rice meals in its originating country, Philippines (Beamish and Bartlett, 2014). What I Chose For My Life - 1285 Words
Each person is dealt a different hand in life as they progress through the years, and begin to deal with the rigors of everyday life. Some hands may be full of sensational experiences and impactful encounters, while others may contain moments in life that resemble a nightmare. Luckily enough, during my first eighteen years on this Earth, I’ve been dealt a rather great hand. It by no means has been perfect, but it’s put me into a position today, where I can claim that I truly am happy. The five cards that I chose for my life, included getting accepted to Curry college, breaking my nose, tearing the labrum in my shoulder, having a great family, and earning media credentials before becoming an adult. Not each one is exactly a positive, but they have all impacted me in a significant way, and help form who Tyler Milliken truly is. Growing up and playing baseball is a part of my life I will cherish forever, but it did result in me breaking my nose and being forced to deal with it’s crookedness for the rest of my life. It seems like most people always have at least one physical characteristic that bothers them on a routine basis. Unfortunately, my nose is the insecurity I’ve been forced to constantly deal with since about fourth grade. Surprisingly enough, I didn’t break my nose in fourth grade, the entire incident had happened a year prior. When they fixed my nose while at the hospital, I had never put any thought into it maybe looking different or having some new characteristics.Show MoreRelatedA Debate Between Oedipus and Socrates on the Role of Fate1694 Words  | 7 Pagesour society is the role of fate in the life of a person. Supper With My Grandmas free essay sample
It’s suppertime. I am swamped with tasks, moving chairs so walkers can get through. I weave in and out of crowded tables to pour coffee, milk, water, tea, and cranberry juice to 47 people in about six minutes and 30 seconds. On top of that, I run back to the kitchen to grab butter for rolls, and ketchup for French fries, and orange juice, because Mr. Brown always asks for it. No one is without coffee. I have the memory of an elephant and I’ve never forgotten to go get a special order from the kitchen like strawberry ice-cream, or more Sweet n’ Low. I work at River Hills, a nursing home, and word around the kitchen is that I am fastest girl there. I am thoroughly acquainted with over 60 residents, and I know another 30 by name. After dinner when its time to clear all the dishes out of the dining room, I push residents back to their rooms, even though it isn’t my job. Then I wait, and push her back down to the dining room. When Mrs. Hanson is cold, I find her room and grab her white sweater. It’s all worth it when I am told â€Å"You’re a helpful little girl.†or â€Å"Bless you for years.†One night after clean up, a resident named Alvin was yelling for help. Ten minutes later he was still yelling. I went to his room and he told me he couldn’t breathe. Why hadn’t a nurse’s aide helped him yet? Someone let him suffer while the other residents were forced to listen to him. Down the hallway I spotted a nurse who was pretending not to hear. She had more important things to do, like talking to her friend on her cell phone. I helped her get her job done, because I don’t think she could’ve gotten the oxygen mask over Alvin’s face all by herself. I also reported h er. My boss trusts the kitchen staff to do their jobs correctly. People’s lives are put into our hands. If we give a resident solid food when they are only allowed to have pureed food, they could choke and ultimately die. I am happy to belong to the kitchen staff at River Hills because I know I am helping people who appreciate my hard work and helping hands. It’s safe to say that my fellow classmates and co-workers are happy to have me around when a job needs to be done, or when they need someone to talk to. I will enrich Whitewater’s community by taking those good qualities to college with me. I know I am lucky to have them. More importantly, I know I will be lucky to learn at Whitewater.

Music In Lee free essay sample
For anyone who’s into underground rap, here are some artists to check out from Lee, as well as Pittsfield. You might be surprised by these local rappers. In Lee we have some underground rappers; I’m one of them. I rap in a group Deadly Minds of Lee with Jimmy Palmer, Cody Giles, and Josh Thorpe. Besides our group, there is Andrew Farrell (HandGun), and what is cool about this is that the music doesn’t just stop at Lee, It stretches out in Lenox with rappers such as G-Biz, and the Dead Poets Society! Besides Lenox you also have rappers in Pittsfield, such as X-Cell, Logic, Redeye, and probably a lot more than that. But in Lee we also have Shawn Baird who raps, as well as his friend Richie. They had both been in a group together called The Grave Walkas , who had recently had broken up! Another underground rap group contained in Lee , as well as Chatam, New York are the Kadaverz. We will write a custom essay sample on Music In Lee or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The members of this group go under the names Spaz, Reaper, and Durge. Kadaverz in a way are horrorcore, they are also funny, and are a definite group to check out as well as other artists I have posted. Since music is popping up in Lee, as well as other places, the underground to me is expanding, which is great. Underground music is different than mainstream because of how everyone starts off and how they get their names out. It’s not some American idol show where you just sing in front of people and instantly get famous without working for it. A name in music is just hard to achieve, and that’s all- I’m going to wrap this article up for now.
